Moving often requires a road trip. Driving a long distance to your new home can a challenge, especially if you have not so eager children along for the ride. As Madison residential movers, we have years of experience moving families and helping them through the transition.

It may seem like an impossible endeavor to make the journey enjoyable for all members of the family, but it can be done.  Here are some tips to help make it a fun trip for all:

  • Keep Distractions on Hand- This may seem like a no-brainer, but in the hustle and bustle of packing for a move, it may be hard to remember to pack snacks and games separately.  Keep a bag or box off to the side with books, toys, games, and movies that your children will enjoy.
  • Pack Snacks- While you may be trying to finish off the remaining food in your cupboard, keep some of the snack food available for easy munching while in the car.
  • See the Sights- Even if you don’t think there is anything to see along the way, do some research to see if there are any fun or kitschy stops along the drive. These fun stops give you a chance to stretch your legs and will allow the little ones to expend some of that pent up energy.

The move may be stressful for all and the drive to the new home is hardly the end of it, but these tips will help make the trip a little less stressful and a lot more fun.
